Damianenklooster

The Damianenklooster began its life as a seminary—a place where thousands of boys were prepared for priesthood. In 1923, three wings were built; a chapel and further extensions followed in 1933. But the times changed. In 1971, the site was transformed into a rehabilitation centre for people struggling with addiction. Today, it is home to the De Weievensehoeve care farm, offering a safe and supportive living environment where residents maintain the park while working on their own future.

And the future? All options are on the table. (Care) Housing, a hotel, a B&B, a retreat centre, tiny houses, nature stays, recreational facilities … the potential is there. And the chapel? It, too, will be reimagined, given a new purpose that fits within the spirit of the site.

The community is part of the process. This heritage site isn’t just meant to stand—it’s meant to belong. Together with the municipality, the master plan is being refined, so that the first steps toward a new destination can be taken in 2025.

Focus on Impact will lead the development of the chapel and the park. Triginta will continue to invest in a future-proof repurposing of the site.
