In 2021, Triginta signed an agreement in principle for the redevelopment of a former monastery farm in Schimmert, near Maastricht. Once an agricultural estate, surrounded by farmland and quiet dedication, life here revolved for centuries around tradition and devotion—until time inevitably left its mark. The site stood still, and decline loomed.

In 2022, the purchase was finalised. And with that signature, the transformation began. Not cautiously, but decisively. Redevelopment works were launched with full respect for the site's historical and archaeological value—without losing sight of the future.

By 2023, the renovations were complete. And by early 2024, the new chapter had begun. Where monks once worked and prayed, elderly residents now live in an environment that blends care with warmth and dignity.

The historic farmhouse was converted into a residential care complex, with 22 care studios and 3 guest rooms for short stays. A thoughtfully designed new building was added, carefully integrated into the surrounding landscape, offering 8 additional residential units. The site is operated by FIRE Zorg en Beheer, in collaboration with Vleugelzorg, under a 20-year lease agreement.

The complex has only just opened, yet there are no empty rooms. Occupancy figures confirm what we already knew: the demand for warm, small-scale residential care is high. This is not an institution. This is a place that truly feels like home.
